It is a privilege to serve as a regional representative for the North Carolina Writers' Network, NCWN. It provides an opportunity to meet with so many talented authors. Our group meets once a month at a local coffee shop for what we call a Writers Night Out. Last week we were honored to host co-authors Dr. Larry Jones and Audrey Jones. More information about their presentation is available in the press section of this HTN website.

![]() Welcome to the first post of the new decade in the Trail Tales section of the Hidden Treasures blog. Novels aren’t the only place where written treasures are hidden in the narrative. Some are revealed in the chapters of a novella or the paragraphs of a short story. The stories featured in this blog section are published in the print version of Senior Savvy, a North Carolina regional newspaper. The story this month was written and told by Chuck Thurston. It is titled “The Making of a Story.” About Chuck Thurston. Chuck, retired from IBM, is married to Heidi Wibroe Thurston. Both are published authors. In another life, Chuck flew in US Coast Guard search and rescue aircraft as a radio/radar-man. Chuck has published two books of essays and remembrances – Senior Scribbles Unearthed, and Senior Scribbles Second Dose. The books are available at Amazon.com. Under the Hidden Treasure Novels imprint he recently published a full length mystery thriller, The Coroner Takes A Ride.Learn more by visiting Chuck’s website. http://chuckthurston.wix.com/senior-scribbles |
