Novels aren’t the only place where written treasures are hidden in the narrative. Some are revealed in the chapters of a novella, the paragraphs of a short story, or the flow of a poem. My walking buddies and I decided to make a range of written material available to other hikers who frequent the Buffalo Creek Preserve and Trail. Regina Burchett is a new contributor to Trail Tales. In “The Concert of the Trees” Regina recalls moment that resonates during the COVID virus restrictions, recalling a different time, another season, and life before social distancing. Growing up as the daughter of an artist / writer mother and a career Air Force officer, Regina lived in many states, then spent her adult life in Texas and North Carolina. She graduated from Michigan State University, studying textiles and art, and created art primarily in pastels, oils and charcoal. Over the years, she studied drawing, painting, calligraphy, stone sculpture, weaving, computer art and animation, and website design.
